- You could use details of Lewis and Clark crew being chased by a bear, spending a whole day trying to catch a prairie dog, and accidentally shooting at a woman on the first day of the journey. (Click link for details on that). You could also have an omnipresent "voice" representing Jefferson when they receive letters from him. It would actually be more effective if you have this intimidating voice, off stage, read out really fast all the instructions that Jefferson gave to Lewis and Clark (which is really long and in no way could Lewis and Clark manage to do everything on it and focus on surviving) and then Lewis and Clark just stare at each other and then at the instructions again onstage in amazement. Just some ideas for you. A lot of funny things happened on the trip, another instance is where Lewis was followed by a baby buffalo and had trouble getting it to stop following him, you could incorporate that as well.
There would be a total of 31 people in the Lewis and Clark expedition, but Lewis and Clark were the only ones who were permitted to write in the journals. Being that the instructions of what to write in them were given to Lewis only, and eventually Clark would know them, the others did not have the authority to do so.
Lewis and Clark kept journals so that they could report their discoveries to President Jefferson. At the time, Jefferson had just bout the Louisiana Territory and he needed to know what was over there. He chose Lewis, who was his personal secretary to go on an expedition and Lewis chose Clark to accompany him and be his second in command. They basically just needed to write down everything that would have been useful for president Jefferson.

mosquitos-caused a lot of trouble for Lewis and clark on their tripquest-another word for expedition or exploringquill pens-what was used to write in their journalsquestions-about their trip and by people during that timehope that helps:)
he wanted them to find information about the louisiana territory
Lewis and Clark are famous for what they did because they were sent out to unknown land and set to explore and discover things like water routes to the pacific ocean and write a description of the territory
Both Meriwether Lewis and William Clark wrote in the journals. Lewis was told to write down longitude, latitude, rivers, places, objects, weather, animal descriptions, native culture, language, food, customs, clothing, laws, the appearance of soil, of plants, minerals, and the times of the changing of the color of leaves. But because William Clark did not have any formal education, he would later become self-conscious of his almost constant misspellings in the journals.
No, they did not. But they did write a documentary about wha they have seen, but you won't get that anywhere because it all went to president Thomas Jefferson.
i explored that my purse has sold yesterday.
Jefferson wanted to elicit no anger from other countries who had previously done some exploring. The letter contained instructions that described the expected guidelines that Lewis and Clark would be able to do so as to successfully complete the mission and draw the least controversy.
Lewis and Clark's diaries document various observations and experiences during their expedition. Notable entries include descriptions of the landscapes and wildlife they encountered, such as detailed accounts of the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains. They recorded interactions with Native American tribes, noting cultural practices and trade. Additionally, entries reflect on the challenges faced, including harsh weather, food shortages, and navigation difficulties, as well as their scientific observations of plants and animals.
Most likely Sacajawea was unable to write in english, Lewis and Clark had trouble writing themselves. Who knows, probably had a library of deer skins full of painted animal symbols.
