Make sure you are in Page Layout View and not Normal View. Select the Table. Narrow down the width of the table if it is the full width of the page. Go to the Table menu, and in the Table Properties option you can select the options for Alignment and Text Wrapping for the ways you want.
Another trick is to actually put the text into the extra columns where you have no table data. Then what you can do is to hide the gridlines and put no borders around the text you want to seem to be beside the table. That can be done in the Borders and Shading option on the Format menu. So you will have the data in a part of the table that will have borders around them and the other text in columns beside that, which don't have borders around them. When printed it will appear as if that text is not in the table.

To write a suffix in Microsoft Word, simply type the word followed by the suffix without any spaces in between. Word will automatically adjust the spacing to place the suffix correctly. For example, type "runningth" and Word will adjust it to "runningth" with the suffix "th" in superscript.
