Our eyes see light by expanding the pupil to let the light in. Then our optic nerve sends a message to our brain which is able to tell us what color we are seeing.

Yes you can. The different karats in the prism reflect the light in what looks like to us different colours, tricking our eyes into thinking its a rainbow. Hope I helped ;)
