We're not that special. We may have interesting experiences like umpteen billions of other people. We should enjoy them, let them go, and move on.

The fact that God knows and loves each of us personally is stated many times in The Bible and found to be so by millions of his followers throughout history. Jesus' horrible death on the cross is the most striking example of his love and it is sad so many don't wish to accept what he has done for them.

Without knowing the details behind the question it is difficult to respond except generally. God can certainly make himself known to us anywhere and home is a good place for several reasons. Firstly, one can shut out distractions and secondly, God wants to impact upon areas that affect us most and what better place than the home to start. He has promised to hear the prayers of his people and I assume that the one true capital 'G' God is meant, rather than the many gods of people's own making.

The best way to know God and to avoid deception is to read and know what his word, the Bible, says. Anything outside of this or contrary to it may be a deception. It will also give guidance on how to respond. The second key is to be receptive to truth and to have a humble attitude but with one's 'eyes wide open'. God certainly wants all of us to be involved in serving, loving Him and responding to him and that includes our mind.

In the Old Testament, the Prophets would often announce, "Thus saith the Lord." One primary way that God makes Himself known to us is through His Holy Word. Peter, the Apostle, said regarding the Scriptures: "Holy men of God spake as they were moved (carried along) by the Holy Ghost." 2 Peter 1:21.

The other major way God reveals Himself to us is in His creation. Romans 1:19 tells us that within ourselves, "that which may be known of God is manifest in [us]; for God hath showed it unto [us]." the next verse states: "For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead."

I believe that as children of God there is a Knowing part of us that wishes to grow ever closer to God or Spirit. If we make reunification with God and growning in Spirit our primary purpose in life we become "born again" and enter the "kingdom" as taught by Yeshua (Jesus in Greek) . Every "Christ" (annointed of God in the original meaning) has taught essentialy the same simple Truth.

So in to the question, God does not "make himself known". He is known and that is our natural state. It is up to us to honor that Knowing and Spiritual growth first in our life.
