Uniform circular motion basically says that all orbits are perfect circles with the orbiting body on the circumference and the primary at the centre. However, Kepler identified that orbits are not perfect circles; they are ellipses with the primary at one focus. While the actual shape of the orbit is very close to circular, the mathematics behind each shape are very different. Because they say different things, they are contradictory.
*Astronomy. Astronomy is a branch of science that deals with celestial objects, space, and the universe. According to your beliefs it could be important for different reasons. Some hope that if we study it enough we could eventually travel light years away, so basically space travel. To achieve this goal you would need to know very much information including astronomical details. I believe Earth is boring and so even if the study doesn't help anything in the end, it sure is an interesting topic that can go on forever.
I strongly suspect that the first human to study the night skies in wonder was Ugghhh the Caveman, who was also the first human. Seriously. Every human civilization that we know of watched the sky, and I believe that the previous civilizations that we DON'T know about all did so, too. The Mesopotamians and Egyptians and Phoenicians certainly did, and the earliest records that still exist refer to still earlier records.
