The Maximum Ride characters apparently hide their wings under their jackets yet they have a wingspan of nine to fourteen feet. Is that really how they hide their wings?
Max explains in the first book that they have slit like things in their backs along their spines that their wings fold into. That hides most of the wing but its not like you wouldn't be able to notice the bumps the wings make through a t-shirt so the big sweatshirts or windbreakers are just a precaution.
