It's about as easy to use as any Linux distribution. The main point it lacks in is hardware support, which isn't quite as good as Linux's. It uses the KDE desktop, which is also found in many Linux distributions.
Two types of OS available one is client or desktop OS and the other is network OS. Desktop OS is the OS which can be used in a standalone computer but in case of network OS a group of computer can use it. Example: Desktop OS : Window xp,7 Network OS : Unix, Linux, Solaris - SuresH

You can install a server OS on it.
If the computer's OS is windows enabled, the "desktop". Otherwise the command line terminal.

p.s. to clarify: i have snow leopard on my laptop, but only 10.4 on desktop. it costs to upgarde desktop to 10.5 or later, so i wondered if i could transfer from laptop to desktop?
Your question is very vague. Most laptops are capable of running the same operating systems as a desktop computer.
Palm Desktop is a personal information manager computer program for Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X and can be used alone or in combination with a Palm OS personal digital assistant. Palm Desktop can be purchased on CNET, Hot Sync 410, and Palm Desktop.
Right-click you mouse on the desktop, and, depending on your OS and version of OS, look for an option for changing the appearance of your desktop. You should find a 'Browse' -button which will allow you to select the image you want.
A desktop uses the same OS as any other computer, Windows, Mac OS, or Linux. Also, I'd recommend Mac OS X if you're getting a new computer. Here's the scoop: if the computer has an  on it, it runs Mac OS. If not, it runs Windows or Linux.
Desktop OSs are more powerful and can do more things compared to iOS or Andriod. As they are more open and have way more going on the might not run as smooth. If this crash I would reinstall the OS or maybe get a newer computer.
