How does a furnace multi speed motor work?

Mutli speed furnace motors work on a basis of horse power verses work load. The motor actually contains multiple windings or you could say multiple motors. Each of the windings has a specific horse power rating at a given work load. For example, a 3 speed 1/2 horse power motor is actually 3 different horse powers. High is 1/2 hp - medium is 1/3 hp - low is 1/4 hp. As the motor horse power is decreased the motor will slow down under a given or constant work load. Technically there is no such thing as a multi speed motor but in actuality a multi horse power motor.

Why Wipers don't work on high?

Several possibilities are that: 1 the switch is bad on the high position. 2. There is a problem with the high speed wire from the switch to the motor. 3. The wiring inside of the wiper motor for the high speed is bad. The way 2 speed wiper motors work is there are separate windings inside the motor for low and high speeds. Usually 2 wires come out of the motor for low and high and the common ground through the wiper motor body to the chassis of the vehicle. You apply 12v to one wire and get low and 12v to the other one for high speed.

What would cause your blower motor to work on only one speed on a 97 Chevy k1500?

If the one speed it works on is high speed, it is the blower motor speed resisitor that is bad.

What would cause the blower motor on a 2002 Malibu to work only at high speed?

I would suspect the blower motor speed resister is shot.

Your heater blower will just work on high speed?

The blower motor speed resistor is burned out. The high speed function bypasses the resistor. The speed resistor is generally located near to the blower motor.

1999 caviler and the fan blower motor only has 2 speeds low speed does not work how do you determine the problem?

change the blower motor resistor . this controls the speeds . thanks paul

Why doesn't fan blower speed 1 2 3 work and speeds 4 and 5 do?

the blower motor resistor is broken, get a replacement.

Your ac want blow how do you fix it?

If you are saying the blower motor will not work, then check the fuse. If the fuse is not blown, then it is possibly a defective Blower Motor Resistor Pack, blower motor, or blower motor speed control switch, in that order. If you are saying the blower motor will not work, then check the fuse. What causes speed drop in motor?

1) If current, at 'on load' condition, reach or cross its rated value, then the speed of the motor will be decreased. 2) If there is any voltage droop occurs in the incoming supply then the speed of the motor will be decreased.

What are the advantages of speed control of DC motor using micro-controller when compared to other?

This motor is able to work from the battery. The speed is less complicated to use and you do not need much voltage.
