Coral breeds by releasing all of their eggs into the water at one tome. At the same time, the males release their sperm, and the eggs are fertilized as they float in the ocean. These then develop into free-floating zooplankton, which eventually settle to the bottom and become the more familiar form of coral.

I only know about one: the tiny creatures that make up the coral clump produce eggs which float up and join with other corals sperm and then the baby corals sink down and they all cluster together.

Coral reproduces sexually. If the moon is right coral will release sperm and eggs. If they meet up it will eventually latch onto something and grow.

Coralreefs grow because as coral dies it becomes a skeleton to make a new reef.
