During the latent phase, progress is usually very slow. It may take quite a while and many contractions before the cervix dilates the first few centimeters. Contractions increase in strength as labor progresses.
Seems this best describes the smooth muscle tissue of the alimentary canal (intestines). This is a rather unhurried way to move the food (bolus) through the body to allow nutrients to be absorbed.

Slow Labour means that the baby comes out later than the doctors said.
You are experiencing ripening. It happens to all of us. This DOES NOT mean you are in labor. It absolutely means you are going to be having the baby within the next day/week/month, it is not known for sure. Which is why you should keep your routine visits with your midwife/doctor to better tell you when you will estimated for labor. You WILL know when you are in labor even slow labor :D I had slow labor then it sped up :DGood Luck !
