The typical igniter is a very thin piece of wire with a blob of pyrogen on the centre.

I had to replace the igniter on my 1996 Honda Accord it was replaced with an aftermarket device. My question is this going to work as good as the original Honda igniter. It will either work or it will not. It should work just fine.

Igniter is sitting on top of the driver's side fender, inside the engine compartment. Follow the high capacity wire from the distributer to the ignition coil. Four screws attach the ignition coil (cylindrical part) to the igniter (metal, square-shaped item). This could vary depending on the model year. Autozone has an excellent picture of the igniter on their site to help you identify it.

The igniter is aka an Ignition control module, the OEM (original equipment) install is manufactured my nippidenso, but can be quite pricey, ive found that a igniter from a 97 Toyota Camry will work in a paseo, bought new $250-$300 from a junk yard (free if you want to fit it in your pocket), or $35
If you are looking into the engine bay from the driver side fender it is the silver thing to the right of the fuse box.
