The white turns red. There is one located under the dock connector (where you plug your phone in) and one at the bottom of the headphone jack. They should be white, red indicates that it has come in contact with water. Apple put these things in the most idiotic of places if you ask me because mine was tripped and I've never got the thing wet and it works FINE. The guy told me a tiny amount of sweat is enough to trip it... well if Apple lets bodily sweat ruin a warranty than it's darn near impossible to keep the warranty safe on these things. Plus the service I wanted on my phone has nothing to do with the functionality of the phone -- I had dust under the screen, how could water have anything to do with dust under the screen??
it gets wet, it turns pink. it doesn't have to be submersed, just wet. on the iphone support page you can find pictures of what it looks like on each version of iphone/ipod.
iPhone 4 Mic's are typically damaged from moisture or liquid damage. This can be repaired.
Apple's policy on water damage is clear. If an iPod or iPhone has been in contact with a liquid, the repair for this type of water damage is not covered by the Apple 1 Year Warranty or even the Apple Care protection Plan. Any iPod's or iPhone that were built after 2006 have a built in water damage indicator which shows whether a liquid has indeed been in contact with the device. If there has been water damage in a phone, it is possible to repair it and eliminate the water using simple, step-by-step methods that have been proven to work.
The liquid damage indicator (LDI) - or as most people know it, the water damage indicator, on a Blackberry Curve is a small tab inside the battery compartment. All BlackBerry smartphones and batteries have at least one water damage indicator that can indicate even a small amount of liquid damage to a BlackBerry smartphone or battery. The location of the LDI can vary, depending on the BlackBerry smartphone or battery. However, on the Blackberry Curve it is possible to see it if the back of the phone is taken off. If there has been no damage then the color will be white. Any moisture that has entered the phone will cause it to turn red.
no, although liquid metal is rumored to be in the upcoming iPhone.
As a temp. indicator in thermometers.
A pH indicator is used only to measure the pH of the solution.
Universal Indicator turns concentrated HCl red because Universal Indicator turns strong acids reds.

With indicator papers the pH of a liquid is evaluated. Also many indicator papers are used for testing chemicals.
On the back under the battery, next to where you insert the microSD card. It is square and should be white unless it got wet, which would then make it turn red.
A universal indicator changes color in response to the pH of a liquid. Do determine the pH of the liquid, you need to refer to a color chart that tells you which color indicates which pH.
