There is also a great tutorial video on http://sageenergy.ca/learning-centre-tools/online-operator-training/ which explains the process in detail.

Internal combustion engines can be made to work on natural gas as on gasoline or diesel. Then it is just connected to a compressor.

How inefficiencies of compressor and turbine affect back work ratio and efficiency of gas turbine?

Inefficiencies in the compressor of a gas turbine cycle increase the back-work ratio and decrease the thermal efficiency of the gas turbine cycle, since they increase the compressor work.

How aircraft engine function?

with jet propulsion, Air is taken in at the front, than compressed by an compressor. Fuel is added tot the air and ignites. This drives the temperature higher, making the air expand and increase the pressure. After that a turbine takes some of the energy of the flow, decreasing the temperature and pressure and converts the energy into work. the work than is used to power the compressor. The exhaust provides a thrust for the airplane. with a propeller, an engine drives a propeller which provides thrust for the airplane

What is the difference between a Gas turbine engine and a piston engine?

a compressor does work on the gas , raising its pressure and temperaturea turbine does the reverse , it expands the gas as it passes through the turbine, extracting energy from the gas to do mechanical work. For a typical jet engine , the flow track on a compressor is of a converging cross section while is it diverging for the turbine, which is as per gas dynamic laws. The Turbine does two things here in the jet engine, one ,it runs the compressor and two, expands the gas to the propelling nozzle which produces thrust by accelerating the gas upto its exit.

How does a PT6 engine work?

There are three parts to the PT6 engine. First is the compressor section. It's like any other turbine engine. Next is the "free power turbine." You have seen the little pinwheels kids like--you blow on them and they spin. Well, this is a pinwheel for grown-ups: there's a fan on the end of the compressor section's shaft. It blows air against a second turbine that's attached to the next section, which is the gearbox. When the second turbine spins... the gears and shafts in the gearbox turn and make the engine's propeller rotate. The PT6 is an unusual engine in that it's "in backwards"--the intake end of the engine, which in most engines points toward the nose of the plane, points toward the tail on a plane with a PT6 in it. PT6 engines are very versatile and have been used for a lot of things. Someone even tried running a locomotive on one--it worked fine but railroad mechanics would need to be retrained to work on jet engines, so the experiment never got past the trial stage.

How did work done by the steam engine compare to work done by horses?

the steam engine was quicker and stronger than hoses

Can I run my car's air conditioning with engine off?

no... your a/c compressor is engine driven, does not supply pressure with engine off, i hav seen an after market electric compressor by ARB that will run at the flick of a switch. sorry not much help, just dosent work without the engine on

How does a compressor in heavy vehicle work?

the compressor is coupled with engine.when the engine runs at 1000 rpm ,the compressor also will work at that rpm ,so that is air is compressed in tanks and it is used for applying.

How many engine belts are there on a 2000 Honda Passport?

There is only one engine belt, which work for the engine and the AC compressor.

Idle speed increases when airconditioner is switched on?

Noraml as the engine needs to work harder to run the compressor

Can a diesel engine turbo work with 12volt electrics?

A turbo charger does not need electrics to work it is driven by exhaust gasses.

Do you have to run your car engine in order for your air conditioner to work?

Usually. In most cars, the condenser pump is driven by the belt assembly which requires the engine to be running in order to work.

What is difference between turbo charged engine super charged engine?

A supercharger is an air compressor used for forced induction of an internal combustion engine. The greater mass flow-rate provides more oxygen to support combustion than would be available in a naturally-aspirated engine, which allows more fuel to be provided and more work to be done per cycle, increasing the power output of the engine. A supercharger can be powered mechanically by a belt, gear, shaft, or chain connected to the engine's crankshaft. It can also be powered by an exhaust gas turbine. A turbine-driven supercharger is known as a turbosupercharger or turbocharger. The term superchargingrefers to any pump that forces air into an engine, but, in common usage, it refers to pumps that are driven directly by the engine, as opposed to turbochargers that are driven by the pressure of the exhaust gases.

How does a turbo work?

A turbo uses the exhaust gases to spin a turbine wheel which is connected to the compressor wheel. As it speeds up the compressor wheel draws air in a compresses it in the compressor housing. The pressurized air is forced into the engine, increasing volumetric effiecencies and cylinder pressures which increases the torque output of the engine. In a nutshell, it forces a higher amount of air/fuel mixture into the cylinder during the intake cycle.

Does Lincoln electric offer a wireless remote on engine driven welders?

You can try TRUREMOTE, they work for a wide range of lincoln engine driven welders, we have 14 305G model welders with the remotes attached, and consider them a huge asset.

What is the purpose of the turbine in a jet engine?

To drive the compressor section, therefore 'doing work' on the air to increase the efficiency of the combustion process.

Why would a 78 Mercedes 280CE run fine when the AC's off but sounds like its putting pressure on the engine when it is on?

Hey Cort==The a/c compressor draws about 10 horsepower. At idle your engine is developing about 30 hp so you are taking about 1/3 of it for the compressor. You may have switch problems on the compressor causing it not to work in some positions. GoodluckJoe

Is there anyway to bypass the AC Compressor with a serpentine Belt without using a Pulley bolted to the engine?

if you can reroute the belt to bypass the ac compressor all you need to work out is how much shorter the belt is that you would require
