unlike fossil fuel power stations that burn coal, oil or gas nuclear power stations use atoms to keep it brief:

the atoms in the reactor split apart and releases heat energy.

unlike the fossil fuel power stations which just simply burn fossil fuels

another difference is that nuclear power can be very dangerous and can have disastrous effects if something goes wrong, an example of this would be the disaster at Chernobyl in Russia.

also the nuclear power plants produce a large amount of radioactive waste which can take millions of years to degrade.

What are the advances of burning fossil fuels over nuclear fuels?

Nuclear fuels are extremely dangerous and the station could explode.

How does a nuclear and fossil fuel station differ?

A nuclear station uses the energy from nuclear fission to generate power, but fossil fuel stations burn fossil fuels that release CO2 into the atmosphere, instead of the steam that nuclear plants produce. Therefore, nuclear power is more enviormental friendly, though it has some very radioactive waste products that can be harmful if not disposed properly.

What is a nonexample of nuclear fission?

Fossil fuel burning

Describe the working of a thermal power station.?

1. Heat energy is produced by burning fossil fuel in a furnace or from the fission of uranium in nuclear or by hot gas in a gas-fired power station

How does nuclear energy conserve fossil fuels?

Nuclear energy conserves the use of fossil fuel because if there is a nuclear power station there is no need to burn fossil fuel in that region.

What are the two main sources of energy that give to the national grid?

nuclear energy and burning fossil fuels to push turbines that make electricity. ************************************************* the two main sources are burning lots of fossil fuels and nuclear energy

What resources apart from fossil fules are?

steam electricity nuclear power wood burning

Why is it goood to have nuclear power staions?

They don't produce pollution like burning fossil fuels does

Whats the benefits of the energy source for nuclear fission?

Fossil fuels ends soon and not all countries have reserves. Also nuclear energy pollutes less than burning fossil fuels.

How are nuclear power plants different from other plants?

The source of the energy is the nuclear reactor, rather than a furnace for burning fossil fuels.

How does nuclear energy differ from fossil fuels?

With fossil fuels we burn them to produce heat. With nuclear fuel we produce a nuclear chain reaction in a reactor which produces heat. Using the heat to produce electricity is the same for both types of fuel.

Why does a nuclear power plant not produce air pollutants?

There is no burning process going on like in fossil fuelled plants
