Ask yourself, does your religion teach you that God is a loving God. If it teaches you that God IS A loving God, then God is also forgiving. Normally when you are told not to do things because God forbids it, the PEOPLE telling you this are trying to control you - God is quite capable of telling you what to do and not to do himself. You KNOW when something is right and wrong. Read the word/message of God as recorded in the Torah, Bible and Koran so that you know the nature of God - then go out and live a good life - as Christ said so simply, "Love God and treat other people as you yourself would wish to be treated"
