Polar bears don't have a land enemy except for man. The walrus is an enemy that in the water can do serious bodily harm to the polar bear, even causing death. They are not really a problem on land, and the polar bear even hunts them on land. But once in the water the walrus has an advantage.

In a territorial dispute for mating rights between two males, or a female protecting her cubs, intimidation would be the main activity, displaying the bear's size and claws. The larger males are normally the winners of any dispute or fights over breeding territory.

Mother bears and cubs

It is dangerous for humans to approach a mother bear and her cub or cubs. The mother will defend her cubs by fighting with every ounce of her strength, but normally prefers to avoid adult males or predators (man, wolves) by leading the cubs away. Conflict behavior includes hissing, growling, roaring, boxing, jaw chomping, biting, and clawing.

The polar bear is quite large and intimidates its enemies by its massive size. It also defends itself using its sharp claws and teeth.
They don't need to. They rule the north. If by any chance a seal or walrus attacks them, they'd bite and claw at them. With a swipe of their huge and many clawed paws or a bite from their many fanged maws. In fact a polar bear is so big there not much that it couldn't just step on and crush except for another polar bear. (These animals are extremely dangerous, keep well away.)
Polar bears only need to defend themselves against other bears and humans. They use their size and massive claws to defend themselves.

Polar bears do not have any natural predators. They will only fight with each other over food or a mate. Usually one of them will back down and leave the fight. They use their claws and teeth to fight with.

Polar bears have several adaptations to the cold. The double layer fur is their primary defense against the cold, the long guard hairs protect the short dense fur, or undercoat. It's especially good at keeping them dry when they swim, the long hairs are oily, and water repellent. They stick together, sealing the undercoat, and creating a waterproof barrier, the bear can shake the water and ice off, this helps keep them dry and warm. The Polar bear is known for "snow washing" or bathing often, even while still eating, it is thought they are instinctively protecting their fur, and undercoat. Even though the Polar Bear is black skinned, their fur appears white, that is due to the design of the individual hairs. The hair is not white, but clear, hollow tubes, and these tubes stay full of air, holding it against the Polar Bear. The bear is completely covered by their fur, everything but their nose and footpads. Also, Polar Bears have thick layers of blubber, about two to four inches of it. This helps them float when they swim, and insulates them in the wind and water. It is a great emergency reserve during the lean times, when food is in short supply too. The Polar Bear will also dig a "sleeping den" when the temperatures drop for prolonged periods, and take a "winter sleep". This is not hibernating, but they do reach a state that allows their body to use less energy, slowing the normal functions to conserve as much energy as possible. Yet they are easy to awaken, and can even give birth and nurse their young in this state. The temperatures are reported to be comparatively warm in the sleeping, or birthing dens. Often as much as 40 degrees warmer inside the den than outside. The Polar Bear has small ears, and tail in comparison to other bears, this helps prevent heat lose, especially in high winds, and water. For more details, please see the sites listed below.

Who would win in a fight between an elephant and a polar bear?

It is highly likely that the elephant would win the fight. Elephants have thick, defensive hide and tons of muscles to protect itself from claws and teeth, which would make it not get injured by the polar bear. The strong muscles of the elephant's head is good enough to kill the polar bear whenever it hits the polar bear. If the elephant has sharp tusks, it would definitely win by goring the polar bear to death. A cow elephant or a bull elephant can crush a polar bear to death.
