In the United States, law is written by the Legislative branch of our republican form of government. There is the judiciary, the executive and the legislative branch. The legislative branch creates and passes our nation's laws. The legislative branch is bicameral. Bicameral means, there is a Senate and the House of Representatives that makes up the legislative branch of the US government. A Bill is created in a committee (or even sub-committee) in either the Senate or the House of Representatives. It is then submitted, after a long process, to the entire Congress. In a bicameral legislature, both "Houses" must approve a Bill before it becomes a law. Once the law passes by a majority vote in both houses, it then becomes a law. The same is true in most states in the USA, which have modeled themselves after the Federal system.
