How does a radio wave work?

The radio wave is sent from a station containing information and it travels, the readio waves are amplified because they tend to get attenuated as they travel and your radio catches the wave, decode it and sound comes on!

p.s. i just started learning E.M spectrums so I'm not sure if it is right.
