Resistors resist amounts of the electricity flowing through the circuit. For example if the resister has these strips of colors on it in this order(red, green, blue) then the resister has 25,000,000 ohms. That means that the lamp(s)/ bulb(s) is(are) going to be very going to be very dim. Because, the more ohms the dimmer the light, the less ohms the brighter the light.

But we should get back on task. A resistor effects a circuit because it makes the lamp(s)/ bulb(s) brighter of dimmer depending on the amount of ohms they have.

the resistor is very high value several mega ohm assume it equivallent to open circuit -switch open ,if the resistance is very less few mill or micro ohms-switch closed

Can inserting a resistor in a circuit produce an effect similar to a open circuit?

Of course it depends entirely on the ohm's resistance of the resistor. The higher the resistance, the lower the comparison to a short circuit.

What is the type of circuit called when it has an conductor a switch a electric cell a resistor?

it is called a circuit and when it is closed is called a closed circuit and when open circuit it is called an open circuit

What are the common defects of a variable resistor?

Normally if a resistor fails they will either increase in value or open up at all (open circuit).

What is a function of a resistor in a fire alarm circuit?

A resistor in a sensor circuit is used as a simple way to monitor the function of the circuit. The resistor has a calibrated and known voltage drop and current while the circuit is "normal". If there is a short-circuit, or an open-circuit, the voltage and current will change and trigger the trouble alarm.

How are open circuit and closed circuit similar?

Not similar at all. They are opposites.

Can inserting a resistor in a circuit have an effect similar to an open circuit?

If the resistance is large enough, then there might not be enough voltage difference to allow much current. Since, Voltage = Current * Resistance, if resistance goes really large, and your voltage doesn't change, your current must decrease. An open circuit is where you do not have any current flowing, so whether no current verses very little current is the same is up to you.

What are the effects of an open circuit?

The effect of an open circuit is that no current will flow.

Why one of the leads of resistor connected in electronic circuit is opened while measuring its resistance?

You open one of the leads of resistor connected in electronic circuit while measuring its resistance in order to not introduce error cause by other components in the circuit.

What is a fixed bias circuit?

it is a switching device that need a current..so u will need a resistor to open the switch..

When the current will be short and open circuited?

Open circuit has no current, so does that mean any resistor in series with it, has no current ,so it can be ignored for analysis( v=ir so 0 current means 0 V) for finding lets say the Thevenin equivalent.? Now for Short circuit, do we ignore a resistor in series with the short, because current will take path of least resistance and ignore that resistor? Also can short circuit have voltage through it ?

What is open blower resister?

most blower resistors are used to conrol blower fan speed some are mechanical useing different sizes of coiled wire to cut down power which slows fan speed down a open resistor is a open circuit or broken circuit most time you only have high speed and no lower pseeds when resistor blows also now ther are electronic resistors that limit power to fan but they use electronic parts to perform the same effect as theyre early models. open resistor is a open short or breake in the electricity flow. its in the blower box to keep it from overheating resistance equals heat.. g

What to expect if a resistor is placed in a dc circuit with a capacitor?

when we replace the resistor with a capacitor ,the current will flow until the capacitor charge when capacitor will fully charged there is no current through the circuit because now capacitor will act like an open circuit. for more info plz E-mailt me at "zaib.zafar@yahoo.com"
