Best Answer

A vulture does not hunt its food, for it is a scavenger. It finds dead things, For instance animals that get hit by cars, like deer. They do not like them freshly killed, but laying out for a day or two. If it's been out that long, it is full of bacteria.

So the vulture doesn't get infected when standing on the carcus, when it "eliminates its waste" (poops) it lets the "stuff" glide down its legs, making something similar to a shell. Then it cannot get infected.

Then, it is able to eat the dead animal.

Vultures will quickly gather round a corpse, and using their strong beaks, they jostle for position, and peck off meat. Vultures often have heads and necks bare of feathers, the better to thrust their head and beaks into the corpse's internal parts.
