These animals that breed north of the Antarctic continent on sub-Antarctic islands make their homes in open water.
Open water is generally warmer than ambient air in these climates. As well, these animals are covered with fur and a layer of blubber, which retains core temperatures. They can sun themselves to warm their bodies, or return to open water when it is warmer than the beach air.

Harbor seals exist in the northern hemisphere. There are no harbor seals in Antarctic waters.
Evolution. Over hundreds of years animals will change to adapt to there surroundings.

bodily adaptations are when an animals body is able to re adapt to their surroundings, ie: climate (weather).
The animals who live in the rainforests have had to adapt to their habitat, this is easy of course for birds, but land animals have had to camoflage and have to be used to not eating for long periods of time. Also they are forced to run fast from predators.
