Going to a funeral or a burial will sometimes bring a person to thoughts of their own death. Thoughts like where will I go after death. Just into the grave to rot away or is there an after life? Will I be reincarnated or is there something else? These thoughts many times will set a person searching out a religion. Some persons never get by the rituals and works of a religion, thinking this will suffice. But a person should examine a religion very carefully, by observing people of different religions, their beliefs and doctrines, their daily lives, their positions on current events, how they treat other persons, etc. A funeral is a good place to examine a belief system. How is this event affecting people? After an examination is made or during an examination if it is lengthily, examine your own heart, what does it tell you? Some persons are influenced just by a funeral or burial, but you should go further than this.
A fancy funeral should not influence a belief system, nor should a simple funeral influence a belief system.
As this question was addressed to the "Christian" category I will tell you that I believe Christianity to be the "right' religion. And the more you invest in study, prayer, and worship the more convinced you will become also.

Performing rituals to please many gods
One example of a core belief in the Vedic religion is performing rituals like yajnas (sacrificial offerings) to maintain harmony between humans and the cosmic order. These rituals are seen as a way to connect with gods and ancestors, seeking their blessings and protection.
Some examples of Ilocano traditions and beliefs include pagta (respect for elders), burying the placenta of a newborn to ensure good health and prosperity, and the belief in anitos (spiritual ancestors) who protect and guide the living. Palpas (prayers and rituals) are also performed for various occasions such as planting crops or curing illnesses.

faith???
None to my knowledge. The basis for most Pagan belief structures is 'Harm none, do as ye will'. Which means that during your workings you are to harm no one, not even yourself. Thus, burying one's self would be out of the question.
