Cancer cells are cells which have lost the ability to regulate their growth. As a result, cancers are abnormal growth of cells, called a tumor. Cancer is harmful because the uncontrolled cell growth adversely affects functional body cells. There are limited nutrients and energy in the body. Therefore cancer indirectly kills functional body cells by depriving them of energy. In some cases, cancer cells do not have the potential to migrate, and are termed benign. If cancer stays localized, then less of the bodily functions are disrupted. When cancer cells start to migrate they are termed malignant; this is because malignant cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body and affect more bodily functions adversely.

∙ 14y agoCancer cells do not specifically harm the body, they displace the healthy cells in the body. The nutrients that would go to healthy cells are replaced by cancerous cells which replicate at rates unregulated and eventually takes over the body. Tumors in certain areas can cause other health problems such as interfering with circulatory and nervous systems.

∙ 14y agoCancer harms the body in numerous ways. Cancerous tumors and growths can impede and obstruct the normal functions of the human body (ie: a pancreatic tumor can block the bile duct and cause jaundice).
Carcinoma cells also produce formaldehyde - which is poisonous.

∙ 11y agoCancer does not do direct harm to "good cells", but tend to starve them of nutrients and/or blood flow due to their uncontrolled growth and replication.
According to Dr. Otto Heinrich Warburg(Nobel Prize Winner 1931), cancer cells change from being 'Aerobic'( oxygen-fueled ) to become 'Anaerobic'( non oxygen-fueled ), actually sugar-fueled!
As oxygen can no longer be absorbed by these cells, our organs begin to break down and the cancer cell's need for sugars, robs our bodies of their vital nutrients.
In this state, oxygen can no longer be tolerated and actually becomes a poison to the cancerous cells, and in their drive to survive they enter into the blood stream and travel to other areas of the body to multiply, utilising the old adage of safety in numbers.
