Sparks from the chainsaw blade hitting a rock in tree bark can ignite kindling. A hot muffler can ignite dry grass, which can spread into the trees. Yes, there are several ways logging can set off a forest fire. I do not know of any specific instances where this actually happened, however, just noting the possibility.

Cutting down trees means they no longer remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide (CO2) thus increases in the atmosphere. CO2 is a greenhouse gas which is contributing to global warming, so the excess of it in the atmosphere has been classed as air pollution.
