So they can run fast. Just think of it. If they didn't have paws, how would they run? The paws are like hands. Imagine your self without hands, that's how tigers would look like without paws. That's how tigers were made also.

Probably because they are analogous to our hands. Dogs have paws as well, but they cannot manipulate them like cats do. I think that is the reason people find cat paws so appealing. They remind us of our own hands.
