For example, The author doesn't exactly tell us how he feels:

"There is within me (and with sadness I have watched it in others) a knot of cruelty borne by the stream of love,..."

Most people can get an idea of what he's saying, but they don't exactly understand it, and it makes you uncertain and left with questions.
