it helps reach up to the tall tree that it eat
The long neck helps it reach the leaves on top of a tree and the flexible tongue can wrap around branches so the giraffe can strip the leaves off of the branches. It needs to reach the leaves on top of the tree because other animals like zebras eat the leaves off the lower branches. So they can only live if they can reach the top leaves. The tongue is also rough so when it strips the leaves off the branches it won't injure the tongue and the tongue is also blue or grayish so it doesn't get sunburned.
