digestion starts in the mouth where the food is broken down by enzymes in your saliva. the the food passes down to the stomach where the enzymes are denatured. then the food molecules pass through to the small intestine when they are broken down by more enzymes. the products made from this are then absorbed by the small intestine wall or passed along out of the body.
This is the easiest way to remember it. My medical termonology teacher taught us this pnumonic. It is: Obviously= Oral Cavity People = Pharynx Eat= Esophagus Snails=Stomach Darleane=Duodenum Just = jejunum Isn't =Ilium Certain = Cecum About (what) = Ascending Colon (what was added to make the sentence make sense) Those = Transverse Colon Darn (snails) = Decending Colon (snails was added to make the sentence make sense) Really = Rectum Are = Anus
The food gets chewed in the mouth.
Then the food goes through the pharynx and larynx
Then the esophagus carries the food from the mouth to the stomach
Then the stomach beaks down food and produces chemicals for digestion.
Then most of the nutrients broken down by digestion are absorbed by the small intestine.
Finally in the large intestine water and minerals are absorbed and waste products are stored in the large intestine.
First, your teeth grinds it up in your mouth and enzymes help break the food up. Then it is squeezed through your esophagus . Then it is passed into the tummy where acid and enzymes breaks it up even more. Then it is passed to the large and small intestine.
It starts at the mouth then goes down the Esophagus, into the stomach, into the small intestines, through the large intestines and eventually into rectum and through anus.
mouth pharynx esophagus stomach small intestine large intestine rectum anus
Food moves into the large intestine after it has been digested by the small intestine.
Which one of the following correctly represents the order in which food coming into the body passes through the structures of the digestive system? Food moves from the mouth to the pharynx, then on to the esophagus, the stomach, the small intestine, and finally the large intestine.
your large intestine and small intestine
It can take 12 hours and up to 24 hours for lamb to fully digest in the body. The lamb first breaks down in the stomach and passes to the small intestine. From there it moves to the large intestine.
As the material moves through the large intestine, water and nutrients are absorbed into bloodstream. The remaining material is readied for evacuation from the body.
From the stomach, the food moves into the small intestines. After the small intestines the food moves into the large intestines.
Constipation
The hollow organs that make up the GI tract are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and anus. The liver, pancreas, and gallbladder are the solid organs of the digestive system. The small intestine has three parts. The first part is called the duodenum.
The cecum is located in the first part of the large intestine. This serves as a connection between the ileum to the ascending colon and a part of the intestine that moves the waste to be excreted.
Mouth - the mouth is where the digestive system starts. in your mouth you start to break down your food in two ways: mechanically and chemically. (your saliva contains a chemical that can break down your food, and mechanically because you are crushing it with your teeth.)Esophagus-where your food is squeezed into your stomach.Stomach-where it is crushed and tossed around and squeezed to your small intestineSmall intestine -where most of the digestionoccursLarge intestine - the remains that are considered waste gets squeezed outAnus- where the waste exits your bodyHope that helps :)
in the mouth (saliva) in the stomach (stomach acid)
After food enters the mouth, it moves through the throat, esophagus, stomach, the small intestine that consists of three segments called the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum, and finally the large intestine. The large intestine extends from the cecum to the rectum, where waste is stored. This waste is excreted through the anal canal.
