Friction can have many effects on a moving car. It depends on the situation under discussion. If the tyres are brand new, more friction will be experienced as the grooves of the tyres will interlock with the surface of the road. But when the tyres are wearing away, their surface becomes relatively smooth. Friction will not have as great an effect.

If the road is layered with snow, friction will be minimal and the car will move with great velocity . . . uncontrollably. This is why a car skids on an icy road.

Where friction prevents a fast driver to reveal his real potential on the highway, it also helps him apply brakes. It is friction which assists the tyres to stop moving .

What is the effect of frictionon the motion of an object?

Friction universally counteracts the motion of an object, causing it to slow down.

What effect does friction have on motion?

Friction causes object in motion to slow down. As friction increases, it takes more and more energy for an object to keep its inertia (momentum) and it begins to slow down.

How does friction help the movement of a car?

friction helps the movement of the car by allowing it to move easily and smoothly. -------------- Friction between the tires and the road propels the car forward and steer it. Friction in the brakes helps control the motion.
