A gecko can amputate its tail. When a predetor, such as a cat, chases after the gecko and catches it by its tail, the tail just comes off. The tail wiggles around for a while and the cat while become distracted and confused, this stops the cat from chasing the gecko. This way, the gecko can live his happy little life as a lizard and eat food, and chirp and be happy.
it detaches it's tails and the tail starts moving and he runs away while the predator is munching on his tail
Edit:
To avoid detection they camouflage in their surroundings but they can detach their tails and run away if needed. Predatores will usually be distracted by the moving tail and go for that, giving the gecko some time to get away.
Most gecko species are not equipped with a lot of defensive mechanisms. Rather than long sharp teeth, or fangs with venom, a gecko is more equipped with methods of escape. Every gecko species has the ability to detach their tails. The tail is made up of cartilage that has the ability to split apart from the body at the base of the tail, when in danger. Some species of gecko that come from the phesulma family are a diurnal species, roaming during the hot days and sleeping at night, are a much more social family of gecko. These animals will sound of a danger call when predators are in the vicinity. Typically geckos are very fragile animals and have a very soft velvety skin and are susceptible to most predators.
geckos use there claws or they just run or hide
They sometimes hide and their scales protect them too
Well, they either try to run or hide. If all else fails and gets caught by the tail, most geckos can simply let go of the tail and get away... and grow it back in a few weeks.
