I'm doing this for Human Bio.
According to what I found out, the process of inspiration is the removal of air form an external environment. The external intercostals contract and the inner ones relax while the ribcage will move upwards then outwards. The diaphragm muscles will contract and flatten into a dome shape. This increases activity in the lungs and the volume of thoracic activity. The pressure in the lungs decreases lower then atmospheric pressure forcing air to rush into the lungs through trachea.
