Lack of food can affect population in one of two ways (that i can currently think of)
One, if there is no good food in a country people will not have anything to eat, therefore starving. Therefore making the population on a country less.
Secondly if a family has no food to eat they may voluntarily migrate to Another Country where there is a good/healthy food supply, again making the popilation of a country decrease.
