To what extent did mercantilism affect the political and economic development of England's 13 American colonies?

Colonies had to sacrifice their well being as a colony to provide raw material for their mother country. - forced only to trade and carry their goods only by English colony-built ships and crew - had to buy and sell food to the mother country they sold a lot of things to the mother country and received little giving the colonies a down fall. and they were limited on what country to buy from which the only one they could buy from was Great Britain the mother country. -the government took control of the industries which restricted them from making their own material like cooking pots, furnishing, clothing etc. -mercantilism was done to the belief that there was little money on earth and to make the mother country richer they created mercantilism to rich them more land= more wealth especially if the land belongs to the mother country and is being used by colonies not cities

Why is mercantillism important?

Mercantillism~When everything is done for the good of the Mother Country. Ex: The 13 Colonies (Southern, Middle, New England) they were all gathering raw materials to ship back to Britan (British), to be transformed into everyday items. Then they were shiped back to the 13 colonies. The 13 colonies then sold them for a profit. (which was shared with the mother country.

What economic trade policy did Great Britain practice over 13 colonies?

Britain put the Mercantile system in place in the 13 colonies. This system prohibited a free market for colonists and they were only permitted to sell and ship raw materials to Britain. Britain then could manufacture these products into materials to sell and distribute throughout Europe. In addition, colonists were forced to pay duties on the products shipped to England as well.
