The air in the container, as well as the food inside contains water or water vapor. As the temperature of the container as you put it into the fridge is hinger, the water in the food continues to evaporate, saturating the air in the container with water vapor. As the walls of the container cool down, the air inside the container comes into contact with the wall and is cooled to the point that the water vapor condensates. Eventually, the lid and the walls will have moisture on it.

Why does an aluminum can sweat when you take it out of the refrigerator on a hot day?

When cold and warm air meet it makes moisture so the moisture is around the can since the inside is full of water.

Why would your refrigerator leak inside when humidity is high?

Condensation, just like your iced tea glass sweats because it is cold on the inside and the weather is hot on the outside. Humidity supplies the moisture for the reaction. Answer 2: Air from the kitchen, or wherever the unit is located, gets trapped inside the refrigerator. The cooler air inside condenses the moisture within the hotter outside air; the resulting moisture attaches itself to the interior walls of the refrigerator. This happens more often during humid days because there are more water particles within the air.

How dehumidifiers work?

Dehumidifiers work by removing moisture from the air. They are especially helpful in places like basements, where there can be a lot of uncomfortable moisture in the air. A dehumidifier is basically a refrigerator. It uses the same principal as is used by a refrigerator to make a chilled element (inside the refrigerator, this is what makes cold in the freezer) and a hot element (normally the condenser at the back of the refrigerator). A fan blows humid air over the cold element and then over the warm element. Cold air cannot hold as much moisture as warm air, so the water is condensed out of the air on the cold element; and the air is heated back up as it passes over the warm element.
