Shake your head or jump off a diving board, the water will rush our of your ears.

Depending on how far you are trying to get, There are certain ear drops that are meant for drying the water in your ears that you can use. You can also use a towel to get some of the water out or dry Q-tips. Be careful if you use the Q-tips, so that you don't hit your ear drum because you can damage it if you do. Best of luck.

Position your head so that the affected ear faces down. Throw more water in, hard. If the water you're throwing in reaches the trapped water, it will all get drained out together.

or

Position your head so that the ear with water in it is facing up. Put more water in. Quickly turn your head so the affected ear faces down.

These usually work for me; the extra water gets moving and drains the ear. If they don't work, try a Q-tip. BE VERY CAREFUL with this method. It's not exactly what doctors recommend.

Getting water in your ear is a hazard of activities such as swimming under water. Sometimes the water will travel deep into your ear canal and be unable to escape. This creates an irritating sloshing sound, and can ultimately result in an ear infection if the water is not removed. Getting water out of your ear is therefore very important, and relatively easy to do.

Instructions:

How to Drain Water from the Ear:

1: Mix equal parts of rubbing alcohol and white vinegar in a small cup or bowl. This mixture will kill bacteria and dry out your ear.

2: Tilt your head to one side with the affected ear toward the ceiling.

3: Squeeze 4 to 6 drops of the mixture into the affected ear using a medicine dropper.

4: Keep your head tilted for 20 seconds to let the mixture travel down your ear canal.

5: Drain your ear. Tilt your head to the other side so your affected ear now faces downwards. Use a hand towel to catch any liquid that seeps out.

There are kits available in many drug-stores over the counter that can help you with this task. If you purchase one, follow the instructions that come with the kit.

If you have further trouble, schedule a visit with your primary care provider. You may need antibiotics if you have an ear infection, and/or an ear lavage performed by a nurse. Good luck!

Water can not get in your inner ear (the parts all the way inside with the bones) unless it is fluid from inside your body, and therefore, water can not get out of your inner ear to the outside of your body. If it were to happen and somehow water got in your inner ear, you would need to get emergency help from a physician.

It is similarly not typical to have water able to get in the middle ear (the part just behind your ear drum), unless you have a hole in your eardrum, missing eardrum, or an anatomical variation. You can get infections in the middle ear that can cause a build up of fluids and feel like water in your ear, but you can not get that out of your middle ear without physician prescribed treatment such as antibiotics.

Where you can get water in your ears is in the external ear, which includes all the parts of your ear that you can see and into the ear canal as far as the eardrum. This can be called "swimmer's ear". For information on how to get water out of your external ear, see the related question below.

To get water out of your inner ear, tilt your head sideways so that the ear that has water in it is facing downwards. Gravity will encourage the water trapped in your ear to trickle out.
