Generally any problems or 'hiccups' with your computer than don't go away on their own is a sign something's wrong with it.
Freezing, being unusually slow on a good internet connection, crashing, etc.
But to tell exactly what's wrong(virus, worm, Trojan, spyware, adware) and because not all spyware causes such obvious trouble, I'd recommended scanning it with something like Norton every so often for good measure.
Beware some free virus scans offered online as they can they can be scams that give your computer the very problems you want to avoid.

∙ 13y agoYou can find this out by downloading an Anti Virus such as Norton Anti Virus, AVG Free, or McAfee. Try running a scan on one of them, (Which will take a while depending on hard drive space) and check the results. If it shows that you have a virus or have Spyware, remove the threats, and you should be safe.

∙ 10y agoThere are quite a number of various ways to check if a Spyware program is installed on one's laptop. One great way is to go to control panel and to navigate to the program listing. This will show all installed programs on one's computer and give the option to uninstall them.
