This is how to pray the rosary....
First you should know that there are 20 "mysteries" that one has to state which are divided into five, each five are stated in different days they are Joyful Mysteries(the annunciation, the Visitation, the Nativity, the presentation, the finding of jesus in the temple) , Luminous Mysteries (The Baptism of the Lord, the wedding of cana, the proclamation of the kingdom, the transfiguration, the institution of the eucharist), Sorrowful Mysteries (the agony in the garden, the scourging at the pillar, the crowing of the thorns, the carrying of the cross, athe crucifixion), Glorious Mysteries (the resurrection, the ascension, the decent of the holy spirit, the assumption, the coronation).
Then you make the sign of the cross and state the "Apostled Creed"
you grap the first bead on top of the cross and You say the Our Father
then the next three beads you say the 3 Hail Marys
on the last of the three beads you say one Glory be to the Father
THEN you announce the first mystery of the day and then an Our Father in the next bead
After you say 10 Hail Mary's which is in every bead
then again you say Glory be to the Father
then again you state the next mystery
and in the next bead you state the Our Father
and then the next ten beads are the 10 Hail Marys
You keep repeating them until you reach all around the beads and finished the Mysteries.
After you completed the rosary you stat the Hail, Holy Queen
And then you're done.

AnswerHow to pray the rosary: First of all, one of the most important things that we must do as Christians is to pray, and beginning prayer is meditation. Realize that Christian meditation has absolutely nothing in common with Eastern meditation. That are completely different things and that fact that they are called by the same word is an unfortunate happenstance. Christian meditation is recalling and thinking about the truths of the faith. Meditation using Sacred Scripture (The Bible) is called Lectio Divinia. The rosary is a series of prayers based on the Bible - the Our Father, and the Hail Mary (the Angelic Salutation from the Gospel of Luke). But the vocal prayer is like the background music, if you will, to the meditation of the mysteries of the faith, which is the heart of the rosary.
The rosary meditations are:
.
Joyful
(Monday and Saturday)
Annunciation of angel Gabriel to Mary
Visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth
Nativity of our Blessed Savior
Presentation in the Temple
Finding in the Temple
.
Luminous
(Thursday)
Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan
Self manifestation of Jesus at the Miracle of Cana
Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
The Transfiguration on the Mount
The Institution of the Blessed Eucharist
.
Sorrowful
(Tuesday and Friday)
The Agony in the Garden
The Scouring at the Pillar
The Crowning with Thorns
The Carrying of the Cross
The Crucifixion
.
Glorious
(Wednesday and Sunday)
The Resurrection
The Ascension
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
The Assumption of the B.V.M.
The Crowning of the B.V.M. as Queen of Heaven and Earth.
.
So we are praying by meditating on the mysteries of our Redemption. And this form of prayer was very ancient, but the form that we currently use was given by Our Blessed Mother to St. Dominic (who was founder of the Dominicans). As Catholics, we walk in our Savior's footsteps, and one of the ways in which we imitate Him is in His love and devotion to His mother.
.
So the rosary is important to us, as Catholic Christians, as fulfilling our Blessed Lord's command to pray always, as meditation on the events of His life, as a form of prayer that was given to us at the express wish of Our Blessed Mother, and as one of the forms of prayer, above most others that leads many saints to intimate union with God.
.
Below is the form that I made up for my students in Sunday school (in the instructions below there is L for leader and R for response, that is if you have two or more people praying the rosary together; obviously, if you are saying it alone, you will be saying all the prayers):
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
CRUCIFIX
L. I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of Heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell. On the third day He rose again.
He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
R. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church,
the Communion of the Saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
Our Father (for the Pope). Three Hail Mary's ( for increase of Faith, Hope, Charity) Glory be.
All. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins,
save us from the first of Hell.
Lead all souls to Heaven,
especially those who have most need of Thy mercy. Amen
For each decade:
L. Our Father, who art in heaven,
BIG BEAD
Hallowed be Thy Name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
On Earth as it is in Heaven
R. Give us this day, our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
L. Hail Mary, full of grace,
SMALL BEADS - 10 TIMES
The Lord is with thee,
Blessed are thou amongst women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
R. Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
L. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
CHAIN
R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
L. O my Jesus...
R. forgive us our sins,
save us from the first of Hell.
Lead all souls to Heaven,
especially those who have most need of Thy mercy. Amen
Final prayers:
Hail, Holy Queen
, Mother of Mercy! Our life,
our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we
cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do
we send up our sights, mourning and weeping
in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most
gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward
us; and after this our exile show unto us the
blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement,
O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
L. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,
R. that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
All:
O God, whose only-begotten Son, by His life,
death, and Resurrection, has purchased for us
the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech
Thee, that meditating on these Mysteries of
the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin
Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and
obtain what they promise, through the same
Christ our lord. Amen.
To tell the beads is to pray with a rosary ( a string of beads used in praying).Dictionary.com definition:bead  [beed]count / say / tell one's beads, to say one's prayers, using rosary beads: There were a few old women counting their beads in the hushed silence of the chapel.
Colours on rosary beads are NOT important. They are just mere decorations on the beads to suit a persons favourite colour and so on. They only important thing is that you have enough beads on it to say at least one decade with or more.
A rosary has many beads on it. each one represents a prayer. There are 10 small beads, then 1 big bead. This sequence is then repeated 5 times. For every small bead, you say the hail mary, and for every large bead, you say the our father. 5 LARGE BEADS.
The rosary intended to be used during prayer and meditation and not as jewlery. Someone who wears a rosary to have it handy to use in prayer or so it wouldn't get lost is fine. When I was a child, nuns would wear a rosary around their neck - but it was there for them to use in prayer/meditation and not as a fashion statement. Some people say it's a sin to wear a rosary because misusing a prayer tool as a fashioto make a fashipn statement is disrespectful.
The Rosary is a set of prayer beads. Each bead represents a prayer. In the beginning and after every decade of the rosary, there is a bead that is slightly isolated from the others. This is an Our Father bead. The rest of the other beads are Hail Mary prayer beads. There are 5 decades (Set of ten Hail Mary beads and one Our Father bead). Each decade actually has the ten hail Mary prayers, one Glory be prayer before the Our Father prayer, one My Jesus prayer also before the Our Father bead, and one Our Father bead). Try looking up a picture of a rosary, this will help you for when I describe the rosary (See related links).O =1 Our Father prayer bead (You always say 1 Glory be and one My Jesus before saying the Our Father).0 = One Hail Mary Prayer. The beginning beads of prayers are like this:(Crucifix where you say 1 Apostles Creed) O 000 OThe rest is like this:0000000000 O (x5 for the whole prayer) (This is one decade. Do this 5x to completea whole rosary)There are five decades in each Rosary prayer but some people do 20 decades to say all the mysteries. The main purpose of the rosary prayer is to ask Mary to pray for us and to ask God to forgive our sins and save us from hell. You can also make intentions for each decade or an intention for the whole rosary. Our Father:Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.AmenHail Mary:Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy whom Jesus. holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.AmenGlory be:Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, it was and ever shall be, world without end.AmenMy Jesus:O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls into heaven especially those most needed of thy mercy.Amen
You seem to be describing the Rosary Beads of the Roman Catholic Church. So I suppose the answer would be Catholicism.
The rosary is a much loved and venerated prayer among Catholics. But not all Catholics use this prayer. It is not considered "essential" to the Catholic faith. It is highly recommended, but not necessary. The Mass, for example, is absolutely necessary. The rosary is optional.
Each section of a rosary is called a decade as it contains ten beads for the ten Hail Mary's that you say while meditating on the mystery.
Jesus never said pray the rosary. The Church has come up with the prayer of the rosary to the virgin Mary.Roman Catholic AnswerThe Rosary recalls important events in the life of Our Blessed Lord, He didn't say the Rosary, He lived it. Our Blessed Lord sent His Mother to earth to give us the form of the Rosary that we have today, she appeared to St. Dominic, who founded the Dominican Order, and gave him the Rosary in order to convert the heretics that he was preaching to. As the rosary is primarily mental prayer on the Mysteries (the events in the life of Our Blessed Lord, and His Mother) it is a wonderful way to learn basic prayer. You should learn it well, and stick with it your whole life.
The Rosary is a string of prayers so since you say "at a catholic rosary" I assume you mean this is a public event where the Rosary is said. There will probably be one person (probably a priest) leading the prayers and everyone else joining in for the last few lines of each prayer, like a chant. It could also be in latin.
Roman Catholic AnswerThe main Catholic prayer is the Most Holy Eucharist; if you had to choose just one short prayer and say it was the main one, than, of course, it would be the Our Father, as that is the prayer that Our Blessed Lord, Himself, taught us.
== == Also said as penance after confession. During the Mass, during recitation of the rosary, during Stations of the Cross, and during personal prayer.
