When Flint sets fire to Pinehearst Peter is forced to use a vial of the ability-granting formula which he found to save himself and Nathan. He is given 'Ability Replication'. This is similar to his original power but he can now only have one power at a time (If he replicates a new power he will lose the previous one he had replicated). He also now requires physical touch to copy a power. It is possible that Peter would have got his original ability back but he is no longer capable of empathy because of everything he has been through with his family e.g Nathan rounding up people with abilities and Angela covering up Nathan's death.
