There are many benefits to the environment, wild animals, people, other pets, & comes back around to you & your pet. The more pet owners who get onboard the better, but do not NOT pick up merely because some don't. Reduces polluting runoff into waterways, which can get into groundwater, rivers, oceans (think beaches & parks) & our drinking water. Feces attract flies & other disease-carrying vermin, yuck. Dogs are attracted to smelling not only each other's rears, but their feces, too. Feces spread parasites from one animal to another, both domestic & wild. People (especially kids) can contract some of these parasites. People & pets track it into their homes, cars, businesses. So, as you can see, your dog could be picking up parasites/diseases & bringing them into your home/family.
Changing it could be making it worse. Improving would be, picking up waste, helping your environment!!
