It is interesting how blind some people can be when their aim is to denigrate religion.
The previous answer to this question began:
"It is more the other way around. Religion has always been used as a political tool to control people and make them happy so they don't revolt.
Politics has also often affected religion."
If this is true, and it certainly has a lot going for it, then clearly if religion is used as a political tool then it is indeed political aims which corrupt religion. Though of course there are plenty of examples of people using religion for nefarious ends.
It is important, however, to distinguish between religions; and between any particular religion and the way it's ideas have been/are being hijacked by certain individuals and/or groups for destructive purposes.
Pretending that ALL religions are the same is a good recipe for generating insane ideas. It is a good idea to beware of anyone you find preaching this kind of unsane thinking.
I read somewhere that when politics and religion are separate, they both exist for the freedom of the people. The former by protecting rights and liberties of the people, and the latter by protecting the free will of mankind. When politics and religion are mixed, then a struggle ensues. The struggle goes back and forth between politics and religion and is generally for superiority of one or the other. The final outcome of the struggle depends on who wins the struggle. If politics wins the struggle then politics becomes the tool of oppression. If religion wins the struggle then religion becomes the tool of oppression. JED

Religion should not mix in politics, it is not ethical.
Religion and Politics are developed unequally. Religion plays a big roll in most of the book, but at the same time Politics are developed and shown as unfair and one sided. Religion is present throughout the book, while Politics are brought about through James Jarvis's son's death. (Hope that helps) -Joel
