Depends on the rose. Some are potent, some are ephemeral. My favorite rose is potent, musky, sweet, spicy, heady. The fragrance increases in the evening. Invades the nose and makes one swoon.

Hibiscuses do have a smell to them but it's a pleasant one. The smell reminds me of Rose of Sharon.
