Semi automatic transmission is usually the one which is fitted into a car with manual transmission. The manual transmission requires pressing clutch to change gears or to stop. If you don't press clutch pedal and change the gear, it will do a serious damage to your gear box. In semi automatic transmission system, the clutch is very much in place, but the only difference is you don't have to do it manually. It has a motor and an electronic device that senses the speed, the gear change and brake pressure and then presses or depresses clutch automatically. Advantage of this system is you can take the pleasure of automatic transmission in a manual vehicle. The semi automatic systems however has some flaws. If need to get used to it a bit. You have keep rpm pretty high in this system. Taking a start motion in first gear could be a problem. If rpm is on a bit lower side, you clearly feel the lag while driving.
It is a system best suited to physically challenged drivers who have problem using one of the feet. Of course, the better alternative is fully automatic transmission that does away with the clutch altogether. But is far more expensive and is available only in select models.
A fully automatic car doesn't need any action at all to change gear, a semi automatic car can have no clutch pedal, just a gear stick which you pull backwards to gear up or pedals behind the steering wheel.
The first fully automatic transmission was the Hydro-matic, offered in the 1940 Oldsmobile. There were semi-automatics (GM's Automatic Safety Transmission and Chrysler's Fluid Drive) available in 1937.
Automatic Transmission. You can also get semi-automatics where the driver decides what gear to put the car in, but the gear changes are done by an automatic mechanism.

A semi automatic would allow you to shift manually when up shifting for performance. A lot of cars appear to let you do that but, a semi automatic will shift into that gear instantly. Not when it wants to.
Manual control means that it is controlled by humans, and automatic is it will work on its own. An example is a car's transmission. With manual transmission, you have to tell the car what gear to use. With automatic transmission, the car figures out what gear to use on its own by monitering factors such as RPM.
would an automatic transmission car jerk when shifting after having had a transmission flush
A car with an automatic transmission allows you to do less work while you drive. The car does all of the gear changing for you so you just have to concentrate on accelerating and steering. There is also less damage done to the transmission as human error is removed and it is run by a computer.
Yes. Will it be cheap? Probably not, unless your car is really old. Transmission and engine work are probably the most expensive modifications you can make to a car.
yes it will i just had an automatic engine installed in my manuel car. and used the old harness
