The power was generated at a power plant somewhere. This plant put the power on the power grid, or transmission grid. It was transformed and stepped up to a very high voltage and linked via the largest lines to substations in various service areas. There, it was transformed to step it back down and then distributed on the local grid. It may or may not have been transformed again to get it to your neighborhood. The utility company transformer took that fairly high voltage and stepped it down again, and then the power was run through a drop to your house. There, it was connected directly to the power panel through a meter, and then from the panel to the outlet where you TV is plugged in. A link can be found below.
