well there are many ways the flag does this. 1. It makes you proud to be an american, to realize that the flag and our country has gone on 200 years worth of wars and has never been defeated. 2. It brings us together during the fourth of july as we celebrate Independence Day, we can be thank ful for all the soldiers ( fathers, sons) for taking the time to stand up for our freedom
