Russia had the Great Patriotic War (WW2); America had the Pacific War (WW2).
The United States Pacific Fleet was moored at Pearl Harbor and it would take a major US fleet to defeat the Japanese. The attack was so successful in destroying the US Pacific Fleet that a large portion of the US Atlantic Fleet needed to come from the East coast through the Panama Canal to fight the Japanese in the Pacific.
The US used a strategy called "island hopping" or "leapfrogging" to fight the Japanese in the Pacific theater. Instead of trying to capture every Japanese-held island, the US selectively targeted and bypassed heavily fortified islands and focused on capturing strategically important islands that were closer to Japan. This allowed the US to gradually advance towards Japan while cutting off Japanese supply lines and isolating their forces on bypassed islands.
The goal of the United States was to defeat the Japanese. This meant the removal of the Japanese from many islands in the Pacific Ocean, the destruction of the Japanese Navy, and the surrender of Japan.
Because of the japanese estory us"!
Pearl Harbor was a major US Naval base in the Pacific. It was the location of most of the US Pacific Fleet and all of the capital ships were in port and tied up that morning. It was a sneak attack of a US naval base and not a fight. A fight is when both sides have a chance to defend themselves , but the men at Pearl had little chance for defense. The Japanese attacked at 8 AM on a Sunday morning while most of them were still asleep. The US suffered devastating losses, but were able to shoot down 29 Japanese aircraft and sink 4 mini-submarines.
The US deciphered the Japanese codes
In 1941 the war really became completely global. not only was the war being fought in Europe but that was the year that the Japanese attacked pearl harbor prompting the US to go fight the Japanese in the pacific
i believe it was the island hopping strategy
The Pacific Campaign.
