Generally what happens is that you get a rush of neurotransmitters to the anger part of the brain (medulla) which signals a response similar to the "fight or flight" response. You get a rush of adrenaline which prompts your body to respond to adverse stimuli. In many cases you feel a rush of heat, and perhaps agitation and loss of clear thought.

When you are angry, your brain is closing down it's ability to think rationally. It is consumed by the emotion of rage in a cycle that keeps on feeding itself unless a person has the will to tell themselves, "Stop, this isn't right. Calm down." However, you're brain behaves like a wildfire under rage. One flame leads to something else catching on fire, and then the whole forest has gone up in flames. Since the brain affects how you breathe, heart rate, and nerve/muscle coordination, imagine how these are affected by a brain under rage. Your brain is racing, so your heart might as well be racing to, with your respiratory system too.

Being angry for the sake of angry makes you stupid. I know this because i used to always be angry, and therefore stupid. You need your brain to do things. When your angry, your brain clenches up like a fist.
