In my experience they run rough like there's a miss because the compression is off on one of the cylinders were the gasket has blown.

Just look at your engine oil and you can tell, if it looks milky there is water getting into the oil and that's the sign of a blown intake gasket or head gasket.

If it is white smoke and it is coming out of the exhaust then it is possibly a blown head gasket, the white smoke is from water getting into the engine. some times you can check by taking the radiator cap offand turning the engine over, if water shoots out then its a blown head gasket. at least that's what my Nissan did.

The MOST COMMON PROBLEM with that engine is that the intake manifold gasket BLOWS / LEAKS water into the engine crankcase and mixes with the oil. Replace the intake gasket and FLUSH The engine oil and change the oil filter SEVERAL TIMES Untill engine cleans up.

Sounds to me like a cracked head and or a blown head gasket, i had a similar problem but it was on a Saturn
