Plants are an integral part of the carbon cycle. In order for a plant to photosynthesize, it requires water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide. The atmosphere provides a source of carbon dioxide for plants. Through the process of photosynthesis, plants absorb C02 and release oxygen. Animals, including humans, use oxygen in the process of respiration, which is the way they produce ATP (energy for the cells to do work). The process of respiration releases C02 into the atmosphere, becoming an important part of the carbon cycle.

The carbon cycle moves carbon in and out of the biospheres; the ocean, the land and the air. Carbon dioxide in the air is a greenhouse gas which keeps the earth warm enough for life. Without it we would die.

Carbon Cycle.

What cycle do humans affect by burning fossil fuels?

We affect the earth's regular carbon cycle by burning fossil fuels. Coal and oil combustion adds billions of tons of carbon to the atmosphere, carbon that has been stored underground for millions of years.

The carbon cycle

What is a carbon dioxide cycle?

=The carbon cycle is the biogeochemical cycle by which carbon is exchanged among the biosphere, pedosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere of the Earth.=

Why is it important that water returns to the Atmosphere?

Just as the Earth's Nitrogen cycle and its Carbon cycle are cyclic, the Earth's Water Cycle is just that; Water Vapor returns to the Atmosphere to complete the Cycle.

What is the carbon cycle?

The carbon cycle is a process by which carbon is cycled between the atmosphere, land, water and organisms. Carbon enters a short-term cycle in an ecosystem when producers, such as plants, convert carbon dioxide in the atmosphere into carbohydrates during photosynthesis. The carbon cycle is the biogeochemical cycle by which carbon is exchanged among the biosphere, pedosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere of the Earth

How do plants on earth affect the amount of carbon in earth's atmosphere?

It can regulate carbon because plants need it to live.

Does burning fossil fuels affect the carbon cycle?

Yes, the carbon cycle is responsible for moving carbon in and out of the atmosphere. It normally works carefully so there is always the right balance, because carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is a greenhouse that helps to keep the earth comfortably warm. Burning fossil fuels releases age-old carbon that has been hidden away for millions of years. Releasing it now imposes an extra burden on the carbon cycle which is unable to keep it balanced. This is why carbon dioxide levels and rising and the atmosphere is warming.

How does the burning of fossil fuels by humans affect the carbon cycle?

The carbon cycle moves carbon in and out of the atmosphere and has kept a balance there for millions of years. The carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere have kept the earth warm. Burning fossil fuel releases CO2 that has been held underground for millennia, so this carbon is an extra burdenon the carbon cycle, and it is not able to remove all the extra CO2.This is how the carbon cycle is being disturbed. This is what is causing global warming and hence climate change.

What does the carbon dioxide in the air do to the sun?

Nothing. Earth's atmosphere does not affect the sun. It does, however, cause Earth's atmosphere to retain more of the heat from the sun.
