Rattlesnakes have a waterproof skin which prevents water loss. They also tend to stay in dark underground and more humid areas during the hottest and driest months of the year, a form of summer hibernation called estivation. They then emerge once the rains begin. They also do not urinate a liquid but more of a solid form of nitrogen waste so as to not lose water.
