This is necessary as your body with bigger muscles require more vitamins, minerals and oxegen so your heart needs to grow to pump the oxegenated blood and deoxegenated blood around your body which also carries all your vitamins and minerals you need to support your muscle growth, without your heart growing to compensate for this your body just wouldnt be able to grow efficiently, meaning you would be fatigued for longer with less results.
But in short you heart adapts to the stress placed on it when working out making it stronger because it needs to pum more blood round the body to get oxegen to your muscles. hence people with heart problems should only do light workouts because of the stresses involved on the heart during exercise.
Aerobic exercise is cardio exercise (where you get your heart rate up). Resistance exercise is weight training using resistance.
Activity in water is best and as your muscles adapt you might be able to do some normal exercises. Core strength and resistance training to exercise other parts of the body.
